What?: A secret treaty between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

Where?: Eastern Europe

Who?: Hitler and Stalin

Why?: Hitler wanted control of Poland so he made a deal with Stalin dividing Poland between the USSR and Germany.

How?: Hitler’s Foreign Minister Von Ribbentrop and Stalin’s Foreign Minister Molotov met in August to negotiate the treaty.

Results:
1)The USSR and Germany agreed to not attack each other.
2) Poland was invaded by Germany on September 1st 1939.
3) The USSR claimed Eastern Poland, and the Baltic States.
4) Stalin and the USSR was caught unaware and almost defeated when Germany invaded the USSR two years later in the Spring of 1941.
