What?: Garibaldi wanted to create an Italian republic. Garibadi recruited a force of 1000 red shirt volunteers with weapons and ships courtesy of Camillo Di Cavour, to take over Sicily and succeed in doing so .

How?: Garibaldi Recruited 1000 red shirt voulanteers toward Sicily with guns and ships, than marched towards Naples in victory
Why?: As an Italian nationalist Garibaldi dreamed of a united independent Italy.
Importance: As a result of Garibaldi's efforts and actions, Italy was able to be unified. Garibaldi drove the Austrians out of Italy and at last, Italy was a unified nation.
